At top hair salon, Onaré Salon located in Mississauga we understand busy lifestyles and we know that you’ve already pre-booked your next appointment for a colour and cut so we’re here to help with trending hairstyles for the “in-between” time before your next hair session with us.

Braids are twisting into the Spring styles this year and we thought we would keep you up-to-date with some of the popular braiding techniques.

Spring on the Boxer Braids

Double up and get your Boxer Braids on (aka Double Dutch Braid) because in 2016 you will be seeing more and more of this hairstyle from celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande and Vanessa Hudgens. This style is best suited for medium to long hair lengths and to help prevent slippage we recommend applying Bumble and bumble (Bb) Thickening Dryspun Finish or Saijojo Uplifting Eco Thickening Spray before making your braid.

To create this braid it’s best to start by making a strong centred part all the way down to the nape of your neck. Separating your hair into two, start at the top of your head by splitting your hair into three equal sections and begin to braid, continue to braid while adding more hair into each portion of your hair creating a French Braid. Proceed down to the nape of your neck and then secure your hair with a hair tie. Now braid the remainder of your hair down to the ends and apply another tie. To help tame flyaways and give your hair shine apply Saijojo Calm Eco Smoothing Balm.

Casual, but Dressy

The Fishtail Braid can be worn with a dress or a pair of cute jean shorts to create an elegant and stylish trend. The side fishtail braid is one of the simplest braided hairstyles for women that gives off the impression of thicker and fuller hair because of the tightness and textured look. Just make a side pony and separate your hair into two pieces and then take a small piece from one side and pass it to the other side. Repeat this from the opposite side and continue to pass pieces back and forth while braidING until you reach the bottom of hair, secure with elastic band.

With Spring in the air this seductive look is great for the windy days. You can also style a fishtail into your pony at the back; high or low, it’s totally up to you. To generate a bit of uniqueness apply hair accessories to your braid such as flowers or feathers.

Braided Short Hair

For women with short hair, we suggest Half-Up Braids. Curl your hair to give a beach wave look; use Bb Surf spray to add volume and texture as well to give your hair a sexy wind-blown messy look. Then make two braids in the front and pull them back, and pin together.

We also suggest the Halo Braid. This hairstyle is worn often by Jennifer Lawrence, which can be created by parting your hair into two sections and making two braids, one on each side. Then bring both braids up onto the top of your head and pin them together in the centre. For best results, use bobby pins close to the colour of your hair so they will blend in. halo braid

With so many braids to choose from; keep in mind these are only a few that we thought you might like to try yourself because we at Onaré think braids are beautiful and we encourage you to try something new and fun until we see you at your upcoming appointment at the salon.
